The Native American flute is a very unique musical instrument and is the answer to that desire within most of us to make and enjoy beautiful music.
There are as many theories, methods, and opinions for playing a flute, as there are flute players. Each has its merits and supporters. However, that does not mean that a particular method or style is the only way to play the native flute. Also, different tutitorials for playing the native flute range from a simple style to a complex methodology, and some may be overwhelming and a little intimidating.
As musicians, we understand the potiential difficulty in learning to play a musical instrument. Therefore, we use a simple EAR and EYE method for teaching aspiring musicians how to play an instrument , and play different styles of music. This method is basically hearing and identifying the notes and sounds, and seeing where each note is placed or located on the instrument. This method works. It is the same teaching method we used when we began learning to play music, and we have used it for many years to teach many individuals how to play. We have taught piano, guitar, bass, flute, and drums, as well as fine arts and crafts.
With our method and a little patience and practice, you can be playing simple note variations on an authentic Native Flute within a very short period of time. A musical background is not needed; just the "will" and "want" to learn to play.
